AMERICAN FORK HOSPITAL is a 117- bed community hospital with an eight-bed ICU. Hospitalists are employed by Intermountain Healthcare system and provide some cross coverage at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, a trauma center 20 minutes away in Provo.
SERVICES: Hospitalists cover ED unassigned and patients from 60 local primary care physicians. Hospitalists provide surgical comanagement and preoperative evaluations, and cover the ICU on nights and weekends.
SCHEDULE AND COVERAGE: Hospitalists provide 24/7 coverage and rotate nights. Full-time physicians work 14 12-hour shifts every 28 days, typically four or five shifts in a row.
COMPENSATION: Hospitalist compensation includes a competitive base salary plus productivity incentive.
