A physician-owned and -led multispecialty, the hospitalist team at Wenatchee Valley Medical center (WVMC) works at Central Washington Hospital, a local 200-bed, level III trauma center with a new patient tower and 20-bed ICU. WVMC has 190 physicians in 35 specialties at eight locations.
Services: WVMC provides full-spectrum hospitalist services, including ED unassigned coverage, primary care coverage, subspecialist consultation, ICU coverage, teaching service, observation center coverage and preoperative evaluations. Subspecialty support from partners is provided as needed.
Schedule and coverage: Hospitalists work customized JustInTime scheduling with six shifts—three day, one ICU day, one swing, and one night—on duty every 24 hours. Fulltime hospitalists cover 174 shifts per year, and midlevel support is available during day shifts.
Compensation: Full-time hospitalists earn more than $200,000 with initial income guarantee and partnership after one year with shift rates, production bonuses and night shift incentive.

Local highlights: Wenatchee is the shopping and services hub for north-central Washington's population of 235,000.
