IN TERMS OF GROWTH, 2009 produced some mixed results for the nation’s hospitalist groups. In the 2009 Today’s Hospitalist Compensation & Career Survey, we asked readers to tell us about the size of the group where they worked, and about turnover and plans to add physicians. They reported that their groups were slightly bigger in 2009 than 2008, in large part because of a slight uptick in hiring last year. And while physician turnover remained fairly similar both years, readers said that their groups were planning to add fewer physicians in 2009 than in 2008.
